Jacob Mattox, a hard-throwing, versatile pitcher the past two seasons for Oklahoma Christian's baseball team, will serve as a graduate assistant coach for the Eagles during the 2022-23 academic year, OC coach
Lonny Cobble said Sunday.
Mattox, from Plano, Texas, spent the 2021 and 2022 campaigns with OC after transferring from Tarleton State (Texas). As a junior, he made 15 appearances with six starts, going 2-1 with an 8.69 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 29 innings.
In 2022, he moved into the Eagles' starting rotation in March and finished with a 3-4 record, a 5.74 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 42 1/3 innings. He pitched two complete games.
He will join former teammate
Cole Lee as a GA for the Eagles.
