GOLDEN, Colo. - Senior catcher
Hunter Jones of Oklahoma Christian baseball made his debut appearance on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association All-Region list, earning Second Team honors, the NCBWA announced Friday, May 16. Jones is the program's first all-region recipient from any publication since 2021.
The Eagles are one of seven Lone Star Conference teams to have a representative among the region's best. From the LSC, NCBWA No. 2 Angelo State and No. 5 UT Tyler led the conference with six honorees, followed by Lubbock Christian (3), and (RV) St. Edward's (2). Eastern New Mexico joined OC with one recipient.
Along with being Oklahoma Christian's first all-region recipient since 2021, Jones became the program's first All-Conference First Team selection since that same 2021 season.
The senior catcher was named among the region's best after tying the LSC single-season record with 52 walks in 2025, which closed conference tournament week as the fifth most in NCAA Division II, averaging 1.04 walks per game. Additionally, Jones owns the program record with 118 career walks and is tied for seventh with 20 career home runs.
At the plate, the Sooner State product was third on the team with a .354 batting average and was third in the conference with an on-base percentage of .535. Jones was also fifth in the league after slugging .715 on the year with a team-high 27 extra-base hits.
Jones will look to garner his second all-region nod of the 2025 campaign when the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Region teams are released Monday, May 19.
