SAN ANTONIO (May 9, 2022) – Shane Perales, who led Somerset High School to a Texas Class 4A regional championship game this past season, has signed to play basketball at Oklahoma Christian, OC coach Kendre Talley said Monday.

Perales, a 6-foot point guard, averaged 18.8 point per game for Somerset as a senior as his team went 31-5. He was named to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches' Class 4A All-Region list and to Sportsbook Live's All-South Texas Class 4A second-team list.

As a junior at South San Antonio High School, he earned All-District honors while averaging 20.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He played Amateur Athletic Union basketball for HD Toros.

"I'm excited for Shane to join the Eagle family," Talley said. "Shane will give us more depth at the guard position. His shooting capability and IQ with the ball in his hands sets him apart from others. He is tough and smart and plays with passion and a chip on his shoulder. Coming in as a freshman, I know that he will hit the ground running and help us. He wants to be successful and will do what it takes to achieve it!"

Perales is the program's first signee for the 2022-23 season.
