TYLER, Texas (May 8, 2022) – Oklahoma Christian catcher
Whitney Walde and pitcher
Lindsey Stoeckel were among 13 women named Sunday to the all-tournament team for the Lone Star Conference Championship.
The duo helped lead No. 19-ranked OC to the tournament semifinals. On Saturday, the Eagles posted an epic 10-9, 13-inning win over No. 13 Lubbock Christian (Texas) – the longest game in LSC tournament history – before falling 10-3 to No. 2 Texas A&M-Kingsville in the semifinals.
Against Lubbock Christian, Walde, a sophomore from Moore, Okla., had four singles, matching the second-highest single-game total in program history, and drove in two runs. In the two tournament games, she hit .556 (5 of 9).
Stoeckel, a senior right-hander from Moore, entered the game against LCU in the seventh inning and went the rest of the way – 6 1/3 innings – without allowing a run to earn the pitching win, her 11th of the season. She finished the tournament with a 2.00 ERA over 7 innings of work.
Texas A&M-Commerce beat TAMUK 9-2 in the tournament title game on Sunday.
