CLEVELAND, Tenn. (May 14, 2022) –
Dylan Burrows posted a top-10 finish and a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time in the 1,500 meters to lead a four-man Oklahoma Christian contingent on Saturday in the Lee University Last Chance Meet at the Lee Multi-Sport Complex.
Burrows, a sophomore from Melbourne, Australia, was 10th among 47 men in the 1,500 with a time of 3:48.43. While it met the Division II provisional standard, it wasn't his season best and he ranks outside the top 50 in Division II in the event. He does, however, rank in the top 15 in the 800 meters and he's likely headed to the Division II Outdoor Championships in Michigan later this month to compete at that distance.
In his last collegiate meet, distance runner
Colton Meyers, a senior from Allen, Texas, finished 17 among 34 starters in the 10,000 meters with a time of 31:46.13.
Sprinter
Verrell McBride, a junior from Norman, Okla., competed in both the 100 and 200 meters. In the latter, he finished 11th among 52 runners in 21.54 seconds, but didn't meet the Division II provisional qualifying standard, meaning he won't make a return trip to the national meet after earning All-America honors in that event in 2021.
In the 100 meters, McBride finished 17th among 54 runners in the preliminary round with a time of 10.81 seconds, but opted not to run in the semifinal round.
Multi-event athlete
Chaney Martin, a sophomore from West Plains, Mo., competed in both the 110-meter hurdles (finishing in 15.32 seconds) and the pole vault, in which he didn't record a mark.
A handful of Eagles will compete on Sunday in another last-chance meet hosted by West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas.
