WICHITA, Kan. (April 9, 2022) –
Bryah Davis posted top-five finishes in both the 100 meters and 200 meters to lead Oklahoma Christian in Wichita State's K.T. Woodman Invitational, which finished Saturday at Cessna Stadium.
Davis, a sophomore from Cedar Hill, Texas, finished fourth among 71 women in the 100 meters with an eye-popping time of 11.54 seconds. That would have crushed OC's school record in the event had Davis' effort not been wind-aided, and thus ineligible to count for records or for NCAA Division II qualifying purposes.
She followed up with a fifth-place showing (among 84 women) in the 200 meters with a time of 24.51 seconds. OC junior
Aysha Robinson of Round Rock, Texas, finished 23rd in both the 100 meters (12.13 seconds, also wind-aided) and 200 meters (25.57 seconds, a career-best time).
Freshman
Ruth Oguntope of Houston posted a career-best time in the 400-meter hurdles (1:10.49) and also competed in the triple jump, posting a mark of 30 feet, 8½ inches (9.36 meters).
Thrower
Taelor Brown, a sophomore from Pawnee, Okla., had a career-best effort in the discus with a mark of 132 feet, 9 inches (40.43 meters), which put her 11th in a field of 30. She also placed 23rd among 32 in the hammer with a mark of 131 feet, 10 inches (40.18 meters).
OC's teams will be split next week, with a contingent headed west to Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., and a larger group staying local to compete in the University of Oklahoma's Sooner Invitational and Multi in Norman, Okla.
