ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - On the final day of the 2026 Lone Star Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships,
Nyla Bentley claimed the conference title in the 600 meter dash while breaking her own school record before the women's 4x400 relay team broke the second school record of the day.
Across the two days, the men finished the three medals - a gold, a silver and a bronze - while the four medals, including two golds for the third-most gold medals of any team in the field. The men as a team finished in eighth place with 27 points while the women placed sixth with 51.50 points.
Women
Laila Ahmed started the medal-earnings for the women, taking silver in the high jump, clearing at 5-5.75 (1.67m). On the track,
Brooke Latham (5:06.36) and
Kinley Kite (5:12.60) took fourth and eighth, respectively, in the one mile race. Returning to the field, Addison Barltett earned the OC women three points with a sixth-place throw in the shot put with a distance of 42-2.0 (12.85m).
Bentley highlighted the early portion of the day, taking gold in the 60 meter dash for OC's third conference title of the championships, setting a new school record with a time of 7.49 seconds. Fellow true freshman
Hadleigh Harp earned bronze with a time of 7.58.
Lastly, the women's quartet of
Lakin Gaddy,
Sydney Adee,
Katie Bosley and Kenzie McArtor broke a 14-year old school record in the 400 relay with a time of 3:52.16, getting eighth in the event.
Men
Phil Lawrence, after earning bronze on day one in the weight throw, was the highest finishing Eagle male on day two, placing 11th our of 18 competitors in the shot put with a distance of 44-6.75 (13.58m). Angelo Norman placed ninth in the triple jump with a jump of 41-3.0 (12.57m) as well.
