AZUSA, Calif. - A pair of provisional marks were posted and three school records fell after Oklahoma Christian spent the weekend in Azusa, Calif., for the Bryan Clay Invitational Apr. 16-18.
Laila Ahmed got the weekend started with a national qualifying mark in the high jump invitational, placing sixth with a jump of 5-6.5 (1.69m), which currently ranks 23rd in NCAA Division II and serves as her second provisional mark of the 2026 season and first outdoor benchmark.
Brooke Latham followed Ahmed with two new school records, beginning with the 16-year old 800 meter record, crossing the finish line at 2:12.38 to beat the previous time-to-beat by nearly a whole second. In the final event for the weekend, Latham set a new school standard in the 1500 meter race with a 4:30.42 time, beating that record by nearly two seconds.
Laniyah Curry delivered OC's second NCAA DII provisional mark of the week, competing in the invitational section of the long jump, where she placed sixth with a 19-9.0 (6.02m) jump. Curry already owns the tied-for-third best long jump in the country with a distance of 20-6.25 (6.25m).
In addition to Latham's two school records, Curry got involved in a new school record as her,
Hadleigh Harp,
Katie Bosley and
Nyla Bentley beat their own record set a few weeks ago by three hundredths of a second with a 46.69 run in the 4x100 relay, taking 10th place.
Oklahoma Christian has two more weekends of regular season competition before the Lone Star Conference Championships May 7-9, beginning with the John McDowell Invitational Friday, Apr. 24 followed by the OU O Ring Alumni Open Saturday, Apr. 25.
