NORMAN, Okla. (April 23, 2022) – Oklahoma Christian's 4x400-meter relay team posted a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time while racing on Saturday during the University of Oklahoma's John Jacobs Invitational track and field meet at John Jacobs Track.
The OC quartet of
Camden Miller,
Coby Trevino,
Keiontae Williamson and
Dylan Burrows finished sixth among 15 teams in 3:13.64, a time that unofficially ranks in the top 20 this season in Division II. It's the fourth-best time in 2022 among Lone Star Conference schools.
Two OC field performers finished in the top 10 in their respective events. Junior
Jonathan Olsson of Emporia, Kan., took fifth (among 10 men) in the javelin with a throw of 172 feet, 9 inches (52.65 meters) and sophomore
Wyatt Thiel of Stillwater placed eighth in the long jump with a mark of 22 feet, 1 inch (6.73 meters).
OC's top finishers in running events included junior
Keiontae Williamson of Vernon, Texas (10th among 36 men in the 400 meters in 49.08 seconds), junior
Verrell McBride of Norman in the 100 meters (12th among 37 men in 10.75 seconds), freshman
Sam Fisher of Norman (16th in the 100 in 10.80 seconds) and junior
Jelte van Atten of Leiden, Netherlands (13th among 33 men in the 800 meters in 1:57.03).
The Eagles will compete next Saturday in the Rock Chalk Classic, to be hosted by the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan. That will be their final meet before the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Championships, set for May 5-7 in Kingsville, Texas.
RESULTS
