Hammer throwers in spotlight for Eagles at OU meet

NORMAN, Okla. (April 22, 2022) – Hammer throwers Jonathan Olsson and Kameron Shropshire and long jumper Torrion Montgomery were the only Oklahoma Christian male athletes competing Friday on the opening day of the University of Oklahoma's John Jacobs Invitational at John Jacobs Track.

Olsson, a junior from Emporia, Kan., recorded a season-best throw of 144 feet, 11 inches (44.18 meters) to place 14th in the 20-man field that included several NCAA Division I throwers.

Shropshire, a freshman from Poteau, had a top mark of 126 feet, 6 inches (38.57 meters).

Montgomery, a sophomore from Midwest City, was schedule to compete in the long jump, but results for that event weren't immediately available Friday night.

The meet will continue on Saturday.
