YUKON, Okla. (April 2, 2022) –
Jonathan Olsson and
Chaney Martin won two events each as Oklahoma Christian rolled up six wins on Saturday in the Southwestern Christian/Paul Parent Invitational at Miller Stadium.
Olsson, a junior thrower from Emporia, Kan., took top honors in both the hammer (142 feet, 7 inches/43.47 meters) and the javelin (153 feet/46.63 meters). He had set a school record in the javelin last week in the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational in Shawnee.
Martin, a sophomore from West Plains, Mo., won both the pole vault (14 feet, 7¼ inches/4.45 meters) and the 110-meter hurdles in 16.15 seconds. He also took second in the long jump (21 feet, 5¼ inches/6.53 meters) and shot put (34 feet, 11¾ inches/10.65 meters).
OC's other individual event win came in the 1,500 meters, as sophomore
Austin McNair of Denton, Texas, prevailed in a field of 18 men in 4:05.37.
The Eagles' 4x400-meter relay team of
Keiontae Williamson,
Camden Miller,
Coby Trevino and
Dylan Burrows won that event, too, beating eight other squads with a time of 3:14.09.
OC's top sprinter was freshman
Sam Fisher of Norman, who was fourth of 19 in the 100 meters (11.03 seconds) and third of 17 in the 200 meters (21.72 meters).
The Eagles will compete next Friday and Saturday in the K.T. Woodman Classic, hosted by Wichita State at Cessna Stadium in Wichita, Kan.
