Caitlyn Windell recorded a career-best throw in the shot put and fellow thrower
Taelor Brown posted a top-10 finish in the hammer for Oklahoma Christian on Friday on the opening day of the Sooner Invitational and Multi at John Jacobs Track.
Windell, from East Peoria, Ill., threw the shot put 33 feet, 8¾ inches (10.28 meters) to place 18th in a field of 23 women. Brown, a sophomore from Pawnee, placed 10th of 19 throwers in the hammer with a mark of 137 feet, 8 inches (41.98 meters).
OC's other field-event competitor on Friday, junior
Morgan Ray of Edmond, had a mark of 16 feet, 3¾ inches (4.97 meters) in the long jump.
In the 100 meters, junior
Aysha Robinson of Round Rock, Texas, had a time of 12.59 seconds, with sophomore
Atlanta Hopgood of Oklahoma City finishing in 13.16 seconds. Freshman Jacinda Kwambai ran in the 5,000 meters, finishing with a time of 19:39.97.
The meet will continue on Saturday.
