AZUSA, Calif. (April 14, 2022) –
Dylan Burrows lowered his 800-meter time by more than a second and posted one of the top-10 times this season in NCAA Division II in the event to lead a small Oklahoma Christian contingent on Thursday in the Bryan Clay Invitational at Cougar Athletic Stadium.
The massive meet at Azusa Pacific (Calif.) drew entries from many of the top 800-meter runners in Division II and Burrows, a sophomore from Melbourne, Australia, represented well. He finished 22nd in a field of 198 men with a career-best time of 1:49.17, which unofficially ranks eighth nationally this season and should put him in good shape to qualify for the Division II Outdoor Championships next month.
Competing in the open 10,000 meters, OC senior
Colton Meyers of Allen, Texas, finished eighth in a field of 35 runners with a career-best time of 30:44.37. That's the second-best time this season in the 10K by a Lone Star Conference runner.
The Eagles' other runner on Thursday was sophomore
Owen Pearce of Kingman, Kan. In his 5,000-meter heat, which included 26 runners, he placed 19th in 14:51.80.
On Friday, OC sprinter
Verrell McBride, a junior from Norman, Okla., will run in both the 100 meters and 200 meters in the meet.
