ST. LOUIS (April 1, 2022) –
Owen Pearce and
Colton Meyers each recorded a personal-best time and a top-10 individual finish in a deep field in the 5,000 meters on Friday in the Washington University Distance Carnival at Bushyhead Track.
The festival, hosted by a NCAA Division III power, included seven sections of the men's 5,000 meters that included a total of 174 runners. All three OC runners competing in the meet – Pearce, Meyers and
Colten Brown – ran in the final section.
Pearce, a sophomore from Kingman, Kan., smashed his previous best time by nearly 15 seconds, finishing eighth overall in 14:36.87. Meyers, a senior from Allen, Texas, was two spots behind Pearce with a time of 14:41.00, also the best of his career for that distance. Those two times rank second and third, respectively, this outdoor season by a Lone Star Conference runner.
Brown, a sophomore from Boise City, Okla., placed 55th overall in the meet with a time of 15:23.55.
