SHAWNEE, Okla. (March 25, 2022) – Jonathon Olsson broke his own Oklahoma Christian javelin record while
Keiontae Williamson and
Owen Pearce each posted a runner-up finish in separate events to lead OC on Friday on the first day of the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational meet at Hurt Memorial Track.
Olsson, a junior thrower from Emporia, Kan., finished second in the javelin with a throw of 180 feet, 7 inches (55.04 meters), more than two feet longer than his former school record of 178 feet, 5 inches, set last April in the Wichita State Open. OC sophomore
Brandon Zepf of Port Orchard, Wash., took third in the 10-man field with a throw of 149 feet, 10 inches (45.67 meters).
Olsson also finished fourth in the hammer with a throw of 144 feet, 5 inches (44.01 meters).
Pearce, a sophomore from Kingman, Kan., completed his first career 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:32.83, good for second place in the nine-man field. OC freshman
Cade Berkey took fifth in 10:31.52.
Williamson, a junior from Vernon, Texas, ran a career-best time of 1:54.10 to place second among 33 men in the 800 meters. OC sophomore
Austin McNair of Denton, Texas, finished fourth in 1:57.40.
Sophomore
Colten Brown of Boise City finished fourth among 25 runners in the 1,500 meters in 4:05.48.
The meet will continue at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
