AUSTIN, Texas (March 24, 2022) – Oklahoma Christian distance runner
Colton Meyers finished seventh in a field of 12 runners in the 10,000 meters on Thursday night in the prestigious Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
The race, the final event of the second day of one of the nation's largest track and field meets, didn't begin until about 10:10 p.m. Meyers ran a steady race, mostly in the fifth, sixth or seventh positions, against a field that included seven NCAA Division I runners.
He finished in 31:05.95, less than 12 seconds off his career-best time for that distance. His time was the fourth-best in Division II during the young outdoor season. The senior from Allen, Texas, beat two of the Division I runners (from Incarnate Word) and also finished ahead of a pair of runners from Lone Star Conference rival Dallas Baptist (Texas).
On Friday morning, three OC sprinters –
Verrell McBride, Aysha Robinson and Bryah Davis – will compete in the Texas Relays, then head south to San Marcos to run in the Texas State Invitational.
