LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 15, 2022) – For a second straight week, Oklahoma Christian finished 26th in the voting in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association NCAA Division II poll released Wednesday, one spot outside of the ranking.
OC (15-8, 4-4 Lone Star Conference) went 3-1 on the week, sweeping a doubleheader at Texas A&M International on Friday, then earning a split at then-No. 9-ranked Texas A&M-Kingsville on Sunday and dealing the Javelinas their first home loss of the season with an 11-5 decision in the second game. The Eagles are 3-3 this softball season against top-25 opponents.
Seven LSC teams were ranked in the top 25 – No. 1 Texas-Tyler, No. 6 West Texas A&M, No. 9 Texas A&M-Kingsville, No. 14 Lubbock Christian (Texas), No. 17 Angelo State (Texas), No. 20 Texas A&M-Commerce and No. 23 St. Mary's (Texas).
Two Oklahoma teams from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association were in the top 10, with Rogers State at No. 5 and Central Oklahoma at No. 8.
The top 10 consisted of Texas-Tyler (21-1), Concordia-Irvine (Calif.) (24-0), Valdosta State (Ga.) (16-4), Indianapolis (Ind.) (15-1), Rogers State (20-2), West Texas A&M (13-6), Grand Valley State (Mich.) (12-1), UCO (21-3), TAMUK (22-3) and Augustana (S.D.) (13-4). OC beat Augustana in the Eagles' season opener.
The poll is voted upon by 16 Division II coaches, two from each of the division's eight regions.
OC will host St. Edward's (Texas) on Friday and St. Mary's on Sunday.
