Bryah Davis each scored team points in two events to lead Oklahoma Christian on Saturday during the final day of the Lone Star Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at Texas Tech's Sports Performance Center.
Morales, a senior from Riverside, Calif., finished seventh among 18 women in the mile with a time of 5:17.31, earning two team points. A little more than an hour later, she recorded a fifth-place finish in the 800-meter fine with a time of 2:20.01 to pick up four points.
On Friday in preliminary-round races, Davis, a sophomore from Cedar Hill, Texas, set school records in both the 60 meters (7.64 seconds) and 200 meters (24.41 seconds) to qualify for the final in each event. On Saturday, she took eighth in the 60 in 7.77 seconds, while her OC teammate, junior
Aysha Robinson of Round Rock, Texas, placed fifth in 7.69 seconds. In the 200, Davis placed sixth in 24.66 seconds.
The Eagles' other point scorer on Saturday was junior distance runner
Kenya Bailey of Ponca City, Okla., who placed eighth in a 20-woman field in the 3,000 meters in 10:36.89.
The Eagles finished with 23 team points in the two-day meet, good for an eighth-place finish among the 11 squads competing. West Texas A&M won the team title with 215.5 points.
Most of OC's women's team now will take a break before the start of the outdoor season next month. The Eagles' 2022 outdoor schedule has yet to be announced.
Davis, meanwhile, will find out next week if she qualified to run in the 200 meters in the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships in Pittsburg, Kan., on March 11-12. Her Friday time – adjusted for altitude to 24.48 seconds – ranks 16th in Division II.
