PITTSBURG, Kan. (Feb. 12, 2022) – Oklahoma Christian middle-distance runner
Dylan Burrows posted a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time in the 800 meters on Saturday in Pittsburg State's Indoor Gorilla Classic at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
Burrows, from Melbourne, Australia, finished third in a field of 70 men with a time of 1:50.91. That ranks 21st this season in Division II, which puts Burrows in serious contention for a spot in next month's Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held in the same facility.
Three other Eagles competed in the 800-meter race. Junior
Keiontae Williamson of Vernon, Texas, took 33rd in 1:56.21, with junior
Jelte van Atten of Leiden, Netherlands, 41st in 1:56.84 and sophomore
Ethan Anthony of Mornington, Australia, 57th in 1:59.17.
In the 3,000 meters, sophomore
Owen Pearce of Kingman, Kan., placed 14th of 56 in 8:31.32. Two OC runners competed in the mile – senior
Colton Meyers of Allen, Texas (40th in 4:25.56) and Anthony (56th in 4:30.42).
The Eagles' 4x400-meter relay team of
Elijah Edwards, Williamson,
Isaac Koomson and
Sam Fisher posted a time of 3:28.00. In the shot put, junior
Jonathan Olsson of Emporia, Kan., placed 20th of 37 throwers with a top mark of 46 feet, 6 inches (14.17 meters).
The Eagles now will prepare for the Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships, which are scheduled for Feb. 25-26 in Lubbock, Texas.
