OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 16, 2022) – A win in one event and a personal-best mark in another earned Oklahoma Christian thrower
Jonathan Olsson recognition Sunday as the Eagle of the Week.
Olsson, a junior from Emporia, Kan., starred for the Eagles in the Washburn Rust Buster indoor track and field meet on Saturday in Topeka, Kan. He won the shot put, beating the other 23 competitors with a mark of 48 feet, 2½ inches (14.69 meters). The runner-up finished 11 inches behind Olsson, who picked up the eighth event win of his collegiate career.
In the weight throw, Olsson recorded his best-ever collegiate mark of 49 feet, ¾ inch (14.95 meters) on the last of his six attempts. That moved him up to a third-place finish among 21 throwers.

C.J. Petrin, men's bowling: The freshman from Chattanooga, Tenn., rolled a 299 in his opening game in the Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic in Addison, Ill., and finished ninth in a 432-man field in the Tier I event with a five-game total of 1,170.

Liberty Pierce, women's bowling: The freshman from Kingwood, Texas, finished 10th individually among 354 bowlers in the Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic in Addison, Ill. She rolled games of 245, 235 and 210 and finished with a five-game total of 1,066.

Bryah Davis, women's track and field: The sophomore sprinter from Cedar Hill, Texas, finished second among 35 women in the 200 meters in the Washburn Rust Buster. She also qualified for the eight-woman final in the 60 meters and finished fifth in 7.75 seconds.

Moun'Tae Edmundson, men's basketball: The sophomore from Oklahoma City hit 4 of 8 3-point attempts and scored 19 points, including the last four for OC, as the Eagles won 59-55 at Arkansas-Fort Smith on Tuesday. He led a stellar defensive effort that held UAFS to 40.4-percent shooting, about six percent below the Lions' average.
The Eagle of the Week award recognizes the top performer in OC athletics for the previous week. The honor is presented each week at least one OC athletic team is in competition.
