He has spent time as an assistant coach at Mount St. Mary High School in south Oklahoma City, helping guide the Rockets to state title-game appearances in 2018 and 2020. He has coached middle-school teams for more than 15 years.
In 1998, Freeman helped establish Oklahoma's first boys volleyball club, the Kaizen Volleyball Club, for which he played until 2010, when he graduated from Westmoore High School in southwest Oklahoma City. In 2009, he was a part of the USA Youth National Training Team.
He began his coaching career in 2010 as a student assistant at Central Oklahoma, where he spent two seasons. He started coaching Kaizen in 2010, guided the club team to the national championship in 2016 and now sits on the club's executive board. Freeman was a co-founder of the Southwest Boys Tour in 2014. He also coached at Casady School in Oklahoma City from 2012-16, posting a 102-33 record winning the Southwest Preparatory Conference title in 2016.
He also co-founded the Texoma High Performance Program, which took top athletes in Oklahoma and Texas to compete at the USA High Performance Championships from 2016-2018. He went on to work for one of the top clubs in the country, Austin Junior Volleyball, as the boys volleyball coordinator from 2017 to 2018 and coached for St. Stephen's Episcopal School.
Freeman later worked in Dallas for the North Texas Region of USA Volleyball, overseeing adult and beach programs and founding a boys high-performance program. He also worked at the Excel Volleyball Club in Dallas and coached at St. Mark's School, where he won the SPC title in 2018 and was that league's runner-up in 2019.
