DENISON, Texas (June 18, 2021) – Cheyenne Stark, the starting catcher for the softball team that finished as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I runner-up, has signed to continue her collegiate career at Oklahoma Christian, OC coach
Shalee Rodriguez said Friday.
Stark, a 5-foot-10 sophomore right-hander from Farmington, N.M., starred for Grayson (Texas), which went 49-7 during the just-completed season and advanced to the NJCAA title game. In 56 games, she hit .333 for the Vikings with 13 home runs and 50 RBIs. She scored 56 runs and stole 17 bases while posting a .402 on-base percentage and .640 slugging percentage.
In the pandemic-abbreviated 2020 season, she hit .328 with seven homers and 23 RBIs in only 21 games.
"We're very proud to sign Cheyenne," Rodriguez said. "She was the catcher and three-hole hitter for the national juco runner-up. She has a super arm and is very athletic. She can also play the corner positions. We're very excited to tandem her with
Whitney Walde. She's a super player and even better person."
Stark is the third player in the 2022 signing class for OC, joining pitcher Grace Anderson of Tishomingo, Okla., and utility player Kennedy Fisher of Lawton, Okla.
