OKLAHOMA CITY (May 16, 2021) – Putting himself in position to perhaps qualify for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships earned Oklahoma Christian middle-distance runner
Dylan Burrows recognition Sunday as the Eagle of the Week.
Racing in the 800 meters at the Lee University Last Chance Meet in Cleveland, Tenn., on Saturday, Burrows lowered his Division II provisional qualifying time. A week after the sophomore from Melbourne, Australia, won the Lone Star Conference title in that event, he finished 11th in a deep field of 34 runners with a time of 1:50.88. Nine runners in the race met the Division II provisional standard.
Burrows' time ranks 24th in Division II this season. He should learn sometime this week if he'll qualify for the Division II national meet, to be held later this month in Allendale, Mich.
The Eagle-of-the-Week recognition is the second of the season for Burrows, who also received the honor in January during the indoor track season.
The Eagle of the Week award recognizes the top performer in OC athletics for the previous week. The honor is presented each week at least one OC athletic team is in competition.
