Burrows, McBride, Martin make All-LSC outdoor track and field list

RICHARDSON, Texas (May 12, 2021) – Middle-distance runner Dylan Burrows, sprinter Verrell McBride and decathlete Chaney Martin represented Oklahoma Christian on the All-Lone Star Conference men's outdoor track and field list, which was announced Wednesday.

The LSC formula for determining all-conference honorees is unique. The first-team list consists of event winners, all members of the winning relay teams and athletes scoring 14 or more points at the LSC Championships. The second team includes athletes on the second-place relay teams and those scoring 8-13.9 points, while the third team recognizes members of third-place relay teams and athletes scoring 6-7.9 points.

Burrows, a sophomore from Melbourne, Australia, became OC's first LSC individual champion in any event when he won the 800-meter title at the LSC Outdoor Championship on Saturday in Canyon, Texas, a win that secured his first-team All-LSC honor. His winning time was 1:55.03. He also was part of the OC 4x400-meter relay team that finished seventh in 3:21.15 which earned two points.

Burrows was a second-team All-LSC honoree during the indoor season.

McBride, a junior from Norman, Okla., finished eighth in the 100 meters in 10.57 seconds to earn one team point, then earned eight team points in the 200 meters, finishing a strong second with a time of 20.96 seconds, the seventh-fasted time this season in NCAA Division II. Like Burrows, he was on the Eagles' 4x400 relay team. McBride, credited with 9.5 points, made the All-LSC second-team list.

While the All-LSC honor was a first for McBride, he was a four-time All-Great American Conference honoree in 2019 – when the Eagles competed in that league – earning first-team recognition in the outdoor 100 and second-team recognition in the outdoor 200, indoor 4x400 relay and outdoor 4x400 relay.

Martin, a freshman from West Plains, Mo., took fourth in the decathlon, a grueling 10-discipline event on Thursday and Friday, with a personal-best score of 6,445 points. On Saturday, he placed sixth in the pole vault with a top mark of 14 feet, 5½ inches (4.41 meters). He earned a combined eight team points in those two events to make the All-LSC second-team list.
