SHAWNEE, Okla. (March 27, 2021) –
Nikkita Addy took top honors in the discus and Oklahoma Christian had five other top-four individual finishes in events on Saturday in the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational at Hurt Memorial Track.
Addy, a freshman from Moore, topped a field of 14 in the discus with a throw of 125 feet, 1 inch (38.12 meters). Taking third in the event was
Taelor Brown, a sophomore from Pawnee, with a throw of 118 feet, 5 inches (36.09 meters).
Brown also was third in the shot put with a top mark of 39 feet, 6½ inches (12.05 meters). Placing fifth in the 17-woman field was OC freshman
Leah Oguntope of Houston at 37 feet, 4½ inches (11.39 meters).
OC junior
Morgan Ray of Edmond fared well in the horizontal jumps, taking third among nine women in the long jump at 17 feet (5.18 meters) and fifth among eight in the triple jump at 33 feet, 8¾ inches (10.28 meters).
Emma Davison, a junior from Mason City, Iowa, took fourth in the 1,500 meters in a 26-woman field with a time of 4:59.16, and in the 800 meters, she was 11th in 2:33.69. Placing sixth in the 800 was OC junior
Caroline Schwab of Andover, Kan., with a time of 2:26.62.
In the sprints, OC's top performer was freshman
Atlanta Hopgood of Oklahoma City, as she placed fourth among 29 competitors in the 100 meters in 12.34 seconds.
The Eagles will return to action on April 10 in the Wichita State Open in Wichita, Kan.
