SHAWNEE, Okla. (March 26, 2021) – Oklahoma Christian thrower
Jonathan Olsson won the javelin and produced a career-best mark in the hammer on Friday on the opening day of the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational at Hurt Memorial Track.
Olsson, a junior from Emporia, Kan., unleased a javelin throw of 159 feet, 10 inches (48.72 meters) to top the seven-man field. Freshman Brandon Zeph of Port Orchard, Wash., had a collegiate-best throw of 148 feet, 10 inches (45.36 meters) to place third.
In the day's only open race, OC had five entries among the 37 men in the 5,000 meters, with senior
Colton Meyers of Allen, Texas, third in a career-best time of 15:12.96, and sophomore
Colten Brown of Boise City fourth in 15:25.32. The Eagles had a third runner finish in the top 10 in
Caleb Bozarth, a senior from Bakersfield, Calif., who took 10th in 15:38.10.
The meet will continue on Saturday.
