OC softball moves back into national top 10

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 10, 2021) – For the second time this softball season, Oklahoma Christian has moved into the top 10 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's NCAA Division II poll.

The Eagles moved up a spot to No. 10 in the latest version of the poll, released Wednesday. Last week, OC (12-2) opened Lone Star Conference play with four straight road wins over ranked foes, sweeping doubleheaders at then-No. 25 Lubbock Christian (Texas) and then-No. 23 Angelo State (Texas).

OC, the preseason LSC favorite, is third among six league teams in this week's NFCA poll, along with No. 3 Texas A&M-Commerce (10-4), No. 8 Texas-Tyler (10-4), No. 18 Texas A&M-Kingsville (9-1), No. 19 West Texas A&M (12-4) and No. 24 Angelo State (9-6). Lubbock Christian finished 29th in the voting.

Southern Arkansas (2-0) remained No. 1, followed by North Georgia (12-0), Texas A&M-Commerce, Augustana (S.D.) (4-2), Valdosta State (Ga.) (10-2), Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) (14-1), Rollins (Fla.) (0-0), Texas-Tyler, Concordia-Irvine and OC. Concordia-Irvine dealt OC the Eagles' only losses of the season.

Two other Oklahoma teams – both of which play in the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association – also are ranked: No. 12 Rogers State and No. 25 Central Oklahoma.

This week, OC will host LSC rivals Texas A&M International on Friday and Texas A&M-Kingsville on Sunday in doubleheaders.

The NFCA poll is voted on by 16 NCAA Division II head coaches, with two representing each of the eight NCAA regions.
