RICHARDSON, Texas (Feb. 25, 2021) – Five Oklahoma Christian athletes earned All-Lone Star Conference honors in indoor track and field at the recently completed LSC Championships, the league announced this week.
Alex Samples,
Owen Pearce,
Jelte van Atten,
Dylan Burrows and
Camden Miller all were recognized on the All-LSC second-team list for their performances at the league meet, held last Saturday and Sunday in Lubbock, Texas.
The LSC formula for determining all-conference honorees is unique. The first-team list consists of event winners, all members of the winning relay teams and athletes scoring 14 or more points at the LSC Championships. The second team includes athletes on the second-place relay teams and those scoring 8-13.9 points, while the third team recognizes members of third-place relay teams and athletes scoring 6-7.9 points.
Samples, a freshman from Edmond, Okla., earned 10 team points with a pair of fourth-place finishes in the high jump and triple jump at the LSC meet.
Pearce, van Atten, Burrows and Miller (a freshman from Sand Springs, Okla.) all ran on the Eagles' distance medley relay which finished second. Pearce, a sophomore from Kingman, Kan., also was second in the 3,000 meters and earned 10 team points.
Burrows, a sophomore from Melbourne, Australia, was fourth in the 800 meters, while van Atten, a junior from Leiden, Netherlands, was fourth in the mile. Each was credited with seven team points.
The five were OC's first-ever All-LSC honorees in either indoor or outdoor track and field since the Eagles began competing in the conference with the 2020 indoor season.
