OC volleyball adds Michigan standout Brown

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (Dec. 21, 2021) -- Kathleen Brown, who led Stoney Creek High School to a district title as a senior and consecutive Rochester City Cup championships, will continue her volleyball career at Oklahoma Christian, OC coach Jason Skoch said Tuesday.

Brown, a 5-foot-9 outside hitter/right side, from nearby Oakland, Mich., recorded 104 kills, 24 blocks and 29 digs while posting a .128 hitting percentage in 104 sets as a senior at Stoney Creek. She received recognition as a Rochester Community Schools Scholar-Athlete in both 2020 and 2021.

She also plays for Monsters Volleyball club.

"Sometimes the recruit is the one that initiates the recruiting process," Skoch said. "That is Kathleen and we are glad she did. She came down from Michigan to watch and see a preseason practice. She liked what she saw and we stayed in contact. When I watched her film, she showed continual improvement and she could help us with immediately with court IQ. Kathleen is very fluid in movements and well-rounded. She will help us at the 6-rotation outside hitter position or defensive specialist."

Brown joins right-side hitter Kathryn Christie and outside hitter/middle hitter Annie Davis, both of Edmond, Okla., outside hitter Alexa Grogan of Parker, Colo., and setter Haley Curtis of Plainview, Texas, as a part of this year's signing class for the Eagles. Skoch said he plans to announce other signings in the coming days.
