OKLAHOMA CITY (Nov. 7, 2021) – Leading her volleyball team to two critical road wins and fueling a match-winning comeback in the fifth set against Cameron earned Oklahoma Christian's
Hannah Rouse recognition Sunday as the Eagle of the Week.
Rouse, a redshirt freshman outside hitter from Newcastle, starred for the Eagles in wins at Midwestern State (Texas) on Friday and Cameron on Saturday, which kept alive OC's hopes of qualify for the Lone Star Conference postseason tournament.
She led OC with nine kills and added seven digs, four block assists and two aces in a 3-0 sweep at Midwestern State. Rouse followed that with perhaps the finest match of her collegiate career against Cameron, finishing with 17 kills (one off her career high) and a career-best 23 digs in a 3-2 win.
Against Cameron, OC trailed by two sets and had to fight off a match point in the third set, then rallied from a 21-17 deficit in the fourth set and an 11-7 deficit in the fifth set. During a match-ending 8-0 run by the Eagles, Rouse recorded five kills.
She hit .144 during OC's two matches.
Others considered for Eagle of the Week include:
-- Kenya Bailey, women's cross country: Bailey, a junior from Ponca City, finished 31st among 174 runners in the NCAA Division II South Central Region Championship race in Lubbock, Texas, with a time of 21:42.2, which was more than a minute better than her previous top 6,000-meter time.
-- Colton Meyers, men's cross country: Meyers, a senior from Allen, Texas, was the Eagles' No. 1 runner for the first time this season, finishing 32nd in a field of 183 runners in the NCAA Division II South Central Region Championship race in Lubbock, Texas, after posting a time of 31:25.41 over 10,000 meters.

She also drew 10 fouls from York defenders and started a game-turning 17-2 run with two baskets in the final 64 seconds of the first quarter.
