WEST PLAINS, Mo. (Nov. 26, 2021) – Jayna Gunter, the daughter of two former Oklahoma Christian cross country and track and field runners, has signed to compete in those sports at OC, OC coach Wade Miller said Friday.

Gunter is a two-time top-10 individual finisher in the Missouri Class 4 state cross country meet, helping the Zizzers to team championships in 2020 and 2021. She was ninth in the 2020 race and seventh this year, posting a personal-best time of 18:51.2 over 5,000 meters. She was an All-State selection in each of those years, as well as in track and field in the 4x800-meter relay.

She is the daughter of Wes Gunter, who ran for OC from 1994 to 1998, and Alicia Andrews Gunter, who ran for the Eagles from 1995 to 1999 and earned All-America honors in track as a senior. Alicia Gunter has coached her daughter in cross country at West Plains.

"Jayna has a had a very successful high school career and we are very excited for her potential to impact our program," Miller said.
