OC signee Anderson named as state’s top prep softball player

TULSA, Okla. (Dec. 4, 2020) – Oklahoma Christian signee Grace Anderson, who led Tishomingo High School to consecutive Class 3A fastpitch state championships in 2019 and 2020, was named Friday as VYPE/Shelter Insurance Miss Softball Oklahoma by the Tulsa-based magazine.

As a senior this past fall, Anderson went 27-1 in the pitching circle, recording 376 strikeouts, 21 strikeouts and seven no-hitters. As a batter, she hit .510 with 50 RBIs for Tishomingo, which posted a 34-3 record.

In her four seasons at Tishomingo, she recorded a pitching record of 94-17 with 1,273 strikeouts, 60 shutouts and 23 no-hitters. She finished with a career batting average of .488.

"We are proud of Grace and her many accomplishments," OC coach Shanon Hays said. "She's a big sign for us and we expect her to come in and compete from day one. Grace is always ready to compete! I'm glad she's getting the recognition she deserves. She's earned it!"

Anderson told VYPE that helping Tishomingo win state championships was a primary goal for her and her teammates.

"It was extraordinary that we could accomplish something that no other team at Tishomingo was able to do by winning the school's first ever state championship," Anderson said. "For me it was all about courage and having the confidence of knowing my teammates were always there to back me up. For all of us, it was a mindset to finish our journey with a successful victory."
