OC sets indoor track schedule for 2021 season

OKLAHOMA CITY (Dec. 21, 2020) – Oklahoma Christian track and field coach Wade Miller on Monday announced the schedule for what he described as a "compact" indoor season for 2021.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, OC is scheduled to compete in only two regular-season meets, along with the Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships and, potentially, the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships. Under current NCAA guidelines, no winter-sport student-athlete will be charged with a season of competition for the 2021 campaign.

The Eagles will open their season Jan. 29-30 in Topeka, Kan., in the Washburn Open, to be hosted by Washburn (Kan.) in its newly opened Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility. Washburn currently plans to not allow fans at indoor meets this season.

OC's only other regular-season meet will be the Indoor Gorilla Classic, to be hosted by Pittsburg State (Kan.) at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kan., on Feb. 12-13. Pittsburg State also is not allowing fans at meets this season.

The LSC Indoor Championships are scheduled for Feb. 20-21 at Texas Tech's Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas. If any OC student-athlete qualifies for the NCAA meet, it is scheduled for March 12-13 in Birmingham, Ala.

"I'm thankful for these opportunities and I feel if we have a perspective of thankfulness and have a drive to make the most of each and every competition opportunity, we can have a great season," Miller said.
