OKLAHOMA CITY (Jan. 26, 2020) – A career-best scoring performance and another strong shooting outing while leading Oklahoma Christian to two critical Lone Star Conference basketball wins earned
Aubrey Johnson recognition Sunday as the Eagle of the Week.
Johnson, a senior guard from Mustang, led the Eagles in scoring in both games as they beat Midwestern State (Texas) 64-60 on Thursday and Cameron 63-52 on Saturday.
Against Midwestern State, Johnson hit his first five 3-point attempts and finished 9 of 16 from behind the arc en route to a career-high 35 points. He made four clutch free throws in the final 24.8 seconds to help seal the win, and also added three assists and three rebounds. The nine 3-pointers tied for the most this season in a game by a LSC player.
Johnson made his first three 3-point attempts against Cameron, staking the Eagles to an early lead which they never relinquished. He finished 4 of 8 from 3-point range and scored 14 points to go with a season-high seven rebounds.
It's the second time this season Johnson, who is averaging 14.1 points per game, has been named as the Eagle of the Week, as he also earned the honor in mid-December.
The Eagle of the Week award recognizes the top performer in OC athletics for the previous week. The honor is presented each week at least one OC athletic team is in competition.
