OKLAHOMA CITY (July 4, 2019) – Kaitlyn Dennis, a former NCAA Division I player who later starred for a junior-college powerhouse, has signed to play softball at Oklahoma Christian, OC coach Shanon Hays said Thursday.

Dennis, a 5-foot-8 catcher and infielder, led Phoenix College (Ariz.) to a 52-10 record and the title game of the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II tournament in 2018. She hit .418 with 20 home runs, 22 doubles, 76 RBIs, 65 runs scored and an .886 slugging percentage.

In 2017, she played at Massachusetts, hitting .159. Before college, Dennis played at Shadow Ridge High School in Las Vegas, leading her team to a state championship as a senior.

"We are really excited to be adding a prolific hitter to our program," Hays said. "Kate had a phenomenal career in the JC ranks. She will add a lot of pop to our offense.

"She comes from a perennial power in Phoenix College. I believe she led most every power category nationally. She throws very well from behind the plate and can play both corner infield spots well. Her experience will be a great addition to a big group of incoming freshmen. "

Dennis will join a team coming off a 40-16 season that included the Heartland Conference regular-season and postseason titles and a run to the championship round of a NCAA Division II regional tournament. OC will move into the powerful Lone Star Conference for the 2020 season.
