OKLAHOMA CITY (May 24, 2019) – Johnatan Reyes, a point guard who's played the past two seasons at NCAA Division I Northern Colorado, will transfer to play at Oklahoma Christian in the 2019-20 season, OC head coach
Kendre Talley said Friday.
The 5-foot-11 Reyes, from San Antonio, played in 28 games over his two seasons at Northern Colorado. As a freshman in 2017-18, he averaged 1.3 points per game as the Bears won the CollegeInsider.com postseason tournament. Last season, he averaged 2.1 points per game and scored a career-high nine points in a win over Colorado College.
Reyes starred at Tom C. Clark High School in San Antonio, averaging 19.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game as a junior and earning All-District and All-Region honors as a senior. He signed with Northern Colorado out of high school after receiving other Division I offers from Troy, Texas State, Long Island and Hartford.
"We are very excited to welcome Johnatan to the OC basketball family," Talley said. "Johnatan comes from a very successful program in Northern Colorado, where he was coached at a high level. He is a true point guard who looks to get his teammates involved while still being aggressive offensively. We look forward to him being a big part of this program."
Reyes is the fourth new player to join the OC squad for the upcoming season, joining freshman center Hunter Staten of Stillwater; junior-college transfer Anthony Johnson, a guard from Jackson, Miss., and Hinds (Miss.) Community College; and senior forward Dedrick Parmer of Oklahoma City, a transfer from USAO who was an NAIA All-American last season.
