Bracket set for Heartland softball tournament

Coach Shanon Hays' Eagles will be the No. 2 seed in this week's Heartland softball tournament.

WACO, Texas (April 28, 2019) – The field is set for the final Heartland Conference Championship softball tournament, which will run Thursday through Saturday in San Antonio.

OC (35-14), which shared the Heartland's regular-season title, earned the No. 2 seed and will play in the second game of the tournament, at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday against third-seeded Rogers State (33-21). The first game will feature fourth-seeded Lubbock Christian (Texas) (29-17) against fifth-seeded Texas A&M International (24-30) at 11 a.m.

The Lubbock Christian-TAMIU winner will play top-seeded tournament host St. Mary's (Texas) (30-23) at 4 p.m. The tournament's first elimination game will be played at 6:30 p.m., with the OC-Rogers State loser facing the Lubbock Christian-TAMIU loser.

The winners' bracket final will be at noon Friday, followed by elimination games at 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. The championship round will begin at noon Saturday, with the if-necessary game to follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.

The tournament winner will receive an automatic berth into the NCAA Division II tournament.

Tickets will be $10 for a day pass and $25 for a tournament pass. Single-session student tickets will be $3 and are available for university students with a valid student identification card or children ages 6 to 18. Military members with valid identification and children 5 and under will be admitted free.
