OKLAHOMA CITY (April 23, 2019) – For the second time this softball season and the eighth time in her career, Oklahoma Christian left-hander Madison Hagood was named Tuesday as the Heartland Conference's pitcher of the week.

Hagood, a senior from Comanche, Texas, pitched OC to a pair of key wins over Lubbock Christian (Texas) and Rogers State last week as the battle for the Heartland regular-season title intensified.

In a 6-5 win at Lubbock Christian last Tuesday, she battled for 6 2/3 innings to pick up the W, and she limited Rogers State's potent offense to only two runs and six hits (only one for extra bases) while striking out six batters in six innings of a 6-4 win on Thursday to complete a doubleheader sweep of the Hillcats. The sweep moved the Eagles back atop the Heartland standings with five games remaining.

Hagood's first Heartland honor this season came in March after a week in which she went 4-0 with three complete games. She also was named as the FastpitchNews.com NCAA Division II pitcher of the week after that week.

She won the Heartland honor once as a freshman, three times as a sophomore (a season in which she was named as the Heartland's pitcher of the year) and twice as a junior.

OC (32-12) will host Newman (Kan.) on Tuesday for a 2 p.m. doubleheader in what will be the Eagles' regular-season home finale.
