OKLAHOMA CITY (April 17, 2019) – Oklahoma Christian's
Daelyn Denny was named Wednesday as the Heartland Conference's softball hitter of the week for the first time in her career.
Denny, a sophomore outfielder from Owasso, had perhaps the best individual week of her collegiate career last week, hitting .571 in the Eagles' five games, a pair of losses at St. Edward's (Texas) and a loss, win and loss against St. Mary's (Texas).
She had three multi-hit games during the week, going 3 for 4 with two RBIs in an 8-5 win over St. Mary's on Friday and hitting two doubles with three RBIs in an 11-6 loss in the series finale against the Rattlers.
Denny is the sixth OC softball player this season to win a weekly Heartland award.
Kaylie Upton,
Brie Dunckel and
Hunter Strickland also have received hitting honors once from the conference while
Kali Crandall and
Madison Hagood have earned pitching honors once.
The Eagles will host league-leading Rogers State on Thursday at 3 p.m. in a key Heartland doubleheader.
