OKLAHOMA CITY (March 19, 2019) – Oklahoma Christian seniors Hunter Strickland and Madison Hagood swept the Heartland Conference's weekly hitting and pitching awards, announced Tuesday.

Strickland, an outfielder from Oklahoma City, earned the hitter-of-the-week award as the Eagles went 5-0 on the week. Hitting leadoff for the first time this season, Strickland came through time and again for OC, posting a .706 on-base percentage as the Eagles swept Fort Hays State (Kan.) and Texas A&M International to complete a 5-0 week.

She went 7 of 8 (with three walks) in the three games against TAMIU, including 4 for 5 in her two games in the leadoff spot. She was a pest on the basepaths, stealing five bases in as many attempts, and now is second in the Heartland in that category.

The Heartland award was the first of Strickland's career.

Hagood, a left-handed pitcher from Comanche, Texas, went 4-0 with three complete games on the week. She pitched a complete-game three-hitter with a season-high nine strikeouts as OC beat Fort Hays State 1-0 in the opener, then pitched a perfect inning of relief in the second game to earn the win in another 1-0 contest.

She allowed two hits with eight strikeouts in the 3-1 win over TAMIU and ended the week with a two-hit shutout in the 11-0 win over the Dustdevils, during which no TAMIU runner advanced past second base. In 20 innings, she gave up only seven hits and one run while recording 21 strikeouts.

It's the fifth time in Hagood's career she's been named as the Heartland's pitcher of the week, but the first time since 2017.

OC has swept the Heartland weekly softball awards twice this season. In the season's first week, senior Kaylie Upton (hitting) and Kali Crandall (pitching) received the honors.
