LUBBOCK, Texas (Feb. 1, 2019) – Oklahoma Christian sprinters
Joseph Owens and
Maurice Hill each posted a personal-best time as the Eagles began competition Friday in the Texas Tech Open at the Sports Performance Center.
Owens, a sophomore from Mobile, Ala., ran 7.06 seconds in the 60 meters, good for 30th place in the 68-man field, with teammate Ansel Jefferies finishing 45th in 7.25 seconds.
In the 400 meters, Hill's time of 52.40 seconds was his best ever at that distance. OC sophomore
Ian Colbert led the Eagles' three-man contingent in the race, finishing 19th in 49.18 seconds, while sophomore
Javier Hernandez placed 32nd in 49.94 seconds.
OC also fielded a team in the distance medley relay, finishing third among seven teams with a time of 10:31.51. The Eagles' squad consisted of
Kelton Reynolds (who ran the 1,200-meter segment),
Reid Little (400 meters),
Nick Parizek (800 meters) and
Jelte van Atten (1,600 meters).
The meet will continue on Saturday.
