MANSFIELD, Texas (Nov. 25, 2019) –
Morgan Demuth, a standout middle blocker from the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, has signed to play college volleyball at Oklahoma Christian, OC coach
Barry Wheeler said Monday.
Demuth, who is 6 feet tall, starred for Mansfield High School. As a senior, she played in 124 sets, recording 234 kills, 128 total blocks, 19 assists and a .292 attack percentage. In September, she was named as the Dallas-Fort Worth prep volleyball player of the week by the
Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
She played club volleyball for NRG Volleyball.
"Morgan represents what we look for in our student-athletes, intelligence, leadership and athleticism," Wheeler said. "Morgan can be a force at any position along the net, has a strong serve and reads the court very well. Being from North Texas, she plays against some of the top programs in the country and has performed well against them. We are truly blessed to have Morgan in our volleyball family."
She will join a roster that currently includes 10 players who already are on campus, practicing and preparing for OC's return to volleyball next year. She's the ninth player to sign with OC for 2020, joining
Lily Saenz of Arlington, Texas;
KynLey Burton of Pea Ridge, Ark.;
Eden Dowell of Edmond, Okla.;
Brylie Berryman of Amarillo, Texas;
Anna Strother of Bridgeport, Texas; and
Spencer Plato,
Shaina Westfall and
Oceana Lew of League City. More signings will be announced in the coming days, Wheeler said.
OC announced in July 2018 it would revive its volleyball program, after originally fielding a varsity program from 1976 to 1983. The Eagles will compete in NCAA Division II and the Lone Star Conference.
