OCS volleyball standout Dowell newest addition to OC program

Eden Dowell of Oklahoma Christian School has signed to play volleyball at OC.
EDMOND, Okla. (Nov. 19, 2019) – Eden Dowell, a volleyball standout who helped Oklahoma Christian School to the Class 4A semifinals this fall, has signed to play collegiately at Oklahoma Christian University, OC coach Barry Wheeler said Tuesday.

Dowell, who plays on the right side, played a key role for OCS as the Saints finished 29-5 this season. The 5-foot-7 Dowell also played for Oklahoma Peak in club volleyball.

She is the sister of Jaxon Dowell, who has signed to play golf at Oklahoma.

"Eden is an outstanding young lady," Wheeler said. "She has great leadership skills and will be a fantastic addition to our program. Great things are expected of Eden both on and off the court and I'm sure she will live up to those expectations. We are blessed to have her!"

She will join a roster that currently includes 10 players who already are on campus, practicing and preparing for OC's return to volleyball next year. She's the fifth player to sign with OC for 2020, joining Lily Saenz of Arlington, Texas; KynLey Burton of Pea Ridge, Ark.; and Spencer Plato and Oceana Lew of League City, Texas. More signings will be announced in the coming days, Wheeler said.

OC announced in July 2018 it would revive its volleyball program, after originally fielding a varsity program from 1976 to 1983. The Eagles will compete in NCAA Division II and the Lone Star Conference.
