Carl Albert softball star Brown signs to play at OC

Carl Albert High School standout Aaliyah Brown has signed to play softball at OC.
MIDWEST CITY, Okla. (Nov. 15, 2019) – Aaliyah Brown, an outstanding hitter for one of Oklahoma's top prep softball programs, has signed to play collegiately at Oklahoma Christian, OC coach Shanon Hays said Friday.

Brown starred for Carl Albert High School the past four seasons, helping the Titans win Class 5A titles in 2017 and 2018. She earned Oklahoma High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association All-State honors this year as a senior, hitting .442 with four homers and 39 RBIs and posting a .504 on-base percentage.

She hit .580 with eight homers, 42 RBIs and a .627 OBP as a junior, .523 with three homers, 29 RBIs and a .604 OBP as a sophomore and .409 with one homer, 25 RBIs and a .576 OBP as a freshman.

She made The Oklahoman's All-City first-team list in 2018 and seems a lock to do the same this year. Brown's coach at Carl Albert, Colin White, once served as a graduate assistant coach at OC under Tom Heath, the founder of OC's softball program.

"Aaliyah is known as one of the most prolific hitters in the state and comes from a great high school program that really wins," Hays said. "She also came from the Tulsa Elite (club) team that won ASA nationals, along with two of our other newcomers this year.

"She is an RBI machine that plays the corners well. She really gives some pop to an already impressive 2021 class. She's another super person that will be a great fit at OC."

Brown joins Tara Stewart of Ovilla, Texas, Whitney Walde of Oklahoma City (her Tulsa Elite teammate) and Brooklin Bain of Comanche in OC's 2021 class. More signings will be announced in the coming days, Hays said.

They'll join a program that is coming off a 40-16 season, in which OC won the Heartland Conference regular-season and tournament titles and advanced to the championship round of a NCAA Division II regional. The Eagles will begin play the 2020 season in the Lone Star Conference, the deepest softball conference in Division II.
