PITTSBURG, Kan. (Jan. 18, 2019) – Kelton Reynolds won the 3,000 meters to lead a strong Oklahoma Christian showing on Friday in the Rumble in the Jungle, hosted by Pittsburg State (Kan.) at the Robert W. Plaster Center.

Reynolds, a junior from Abilene, Texas, topped the 18-man field with a time of 8:49.58, a personal-best time by more than 15 seconds. Three other Eagles posted high finishes in the race, as senior Trevor Talley of Washington, Okla., was fourth in 8:55.32, sophomore Colton Meyers of Allen, Texas, was seventh in a personal-best time of 9:00.62 and sophomore Caleb Bozarth of Bakersfield, Calif., was eighth in 9:03.31.

OC also had a pair of solid finishes by freshmen in the 800 meters, with Reid Little of Amarillo, Texas, second among 13 runners in 1:59.69 and Nick Parizek of Oklahoma City fifth in 2:00.60. Another freshman, Jelte van Atten of Leiden, Netherlands, placed sixth among 20 in the mile in 4:29.08.

The Eagles had a high finisher in each of the three sprint events. Sophomore Andre Norman of Celina, Texas,  was third among 16 runners in the 60 meters in 6.93 seconds;  sophomore Javier Hernandez of Allentown, Pa., fourth among 16 in the 400 meters in 49.62 seconds; and freshman Verrell McBride of Norman fourth in the 200 meters in 22.21 seconds.

OC sophomore Joseph Owens of Mobile, Ala., placed second among eight competitors in the long jump with a career-best leap of 21 feet, 10 inches (6.65 meters), and in the pole vault, freshman Keenan Lee of Edmond was fifth among 10 in the pole vault with a mark of 13 feet, 1 inch (3.99 meters).

OC finished fourth among the seven NCAA Division II teams in the meet with 78 points. Oklahoma Baptist took the team title with 156 points.

The Eagles will compete next on Jan. 26 in the Central Oklahoma Invitational at the University of Oklahoma's Mosier Indoor Track and Field Facility in Norman.
