Box Score 2 LUBBOCK, Texas (April 13, 2018) – With a 21-mph wind gusting out to right field, Lubbock Christian (Texas) took full advantage on Friday afternoon against Oklahoma Christian.
The Chaparrals clubbed six home runs and swept a doubleheader from OC, winning 11-3 and 13-2 at PlainsCapital Park, giving them a season series win against the Lady Eagles.
The two wins moved Lubbock Christian (26-11, 15-8 Heartland Conference) into second place in the league standings, while OC (25-21, 14-9) dropped two places into fourth.
In the first game, Lubbock Christian used a three-run homer by Lindzi Clemmer, a solo shot by Sydney Beuthien and a two-run homer by K.K. Lopez-Lui to build an 11-0 lead after three innings. OC scored twice in the fourth – on with singles by
Kaylie Upton and
Kirsten Scott keying the rally – and once in the fifth when
Bridget White's sacrifice fly brought home
Madison Nordyke.
Starter
Madison Hagood (9-10) took the loss for OC, while Monique Francois (19-3) earned the win for Lubbock Christian.
Unfortunately for the Lady Eagles, the second game followed a similar script. Lopez-Lui hit a grand slam in a five-run first inning and the Chaparrals scored eight runs in the second, with Beuthien and Annika Schwartzenberg each hitting a three-run homer.
Upton hit a run-scoring single and
Lacey Davidson later added an RBI double in the fourth for OC. Upton (11-4) took the pitching loss, while Taylor Hinojos (1-3) picked up the win.
The series finale will be at noon Saturday.
