OKLAHOMA CITY (Dec. 30, 2018) – Helping lead a dominant rebounding performance and a grind-it-out win earned Oklahoma Christian basketball player Roderick Smith recognition Sunday as the Eagle of the Week.

Smith, a 6-foot-5 forward from Houston, had 13 points, eight rebounds, a blocked shot and a steal as the Eagles beat Eastern New Mexico 72-62 on Saturday. Smith helped the Eagles post a 47-26 rebounding advantage and limit their opponent to only six offensive boards.

Smith's basket with 8:09 left put OC ahead for good at 55-53 and he added another key basket two minutes later to extend the Eagles' lead to three points. He later went 5 of 6 from the free-throw line in the final 1:39 to seal the win.

The Eagle of the Week award recognizes the top performer in OC athletics for the previous week. The honor is presented each week at least one OC athletic team is in competition.
