Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

LUBBOCK, Texas (March 13, 2014) – Two softball games against small-college power Lubbock Christian (Texas) that began with promise both ended in defeat for Oklahoma Christian on Thursday at PlainsCapital Park.

OC held an early lead in both games of a Heartland Conference doubleheader, only to watch the Lady Chaparrals rally to win 6-3 in the opener and 14-5 in the second game, snapping OC's four-game winning streak.

OC (13-10, 2-3 Heartland) and Lubbock Christian (25-3, 8-3) will play the final game of the series on Friday.

Lauren Chatigny's solo home run in the first inning of the first game put OC up 1-0 and Courtney Starr added a solo shot of her own in the fifth to give the Lady Eagles a 3-1 lead.

But LCU touched OC starter Shea Coats for consecutive solo runs in the bottom of the fifth by Mallory Koschany and Ashton Bell to tie the game, and Coats exited the game with no decision after striking out seven batters.

Katlin Reed's three-run homer in the sixth off OC reliever Krystal Rodriguez (1-1) proved to be the decisive blow for the Lady Chaps. LCU starter Katera Eltsosie (12-2) went the distance, striking out seven.

The Lady Eagles jumped to a quick lead in game two with a four-run second, with three of those runs scoring on a two-out, bases-loaded error by Reed, LCU's left fielder. But Lubbock Christian answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning off OC starter Taylor Mosher and took the lead with two more in the third.

OC tied the game at 5-5 in the fourth on Starr's RBI single, but then the floodgates opened and Lubbock Christian scored twice in the bottom of the fourth, three times in the fifth and four times in the sixth to win via the run rule.

OC reliever Haley Squier (1-3) took the pitching loss, while Abbi White (7-0) went the distance in the circle for Lubbock Christian, allowing five hits. Jessica Loiacano went 4-for-4 with three RBIs for LCU, while Diana De La Paz and Addison Ard added three RBIs each.
