The Oklahoma Christian's men's team earned its first regular season victory of 2006-07 with a 97-39 win over Oklahoma Wesleyan. The victory marked head coach Dan Hays' 500th career victory at OC.

The Eagles took a 44-23 lead into halftime after sophomore Patrick Grewe penetrated and scored with under five seconds left on the clock. The Eagles then scored 21 unanswered points to begin the second half, extending the lead to 65-23 before OWU connected on two free throws to end the drought.

The Eagle defense held OWU to just 16 second-half points and did not allow a field goal in the opening 15:10 of the second half.

Seniors Charles Baldwin and Keith Harris led all scorers with 20 points apiece. Baldwin connected on 6-of-7 three-pointers while Harris converted 6-of-6 free throw attempts. Micah Miles posted 12 points while Grewe scored 10. Freshman Jason Taylor scored nine points and snatched 10 rebounds.

Hays, who took over the Eagle basketball program in 1984, is the winningest coach in school history. Under Hays tutelage, the Eagles have a record of 500-256, a winning percentage of .661.

The Eagles now turn their focus to defending national champion Texas Wesleyan, which visits the Eagles' Nest this Tuesday for an 8 p.m. matchup. The Rams edged the Eagles 67-62 in the Sweet 16 of last year's national tournament.
