OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (April 18, 2008) – The Oklahoma Christian University softball team moved to 27-19 on the season with two wins at the Capital City Classic at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium on Friday.

In Friday's opener, the Lady Eagles overcame a 4-1 early deficit by outscoring Bellevue University (Neb.) 8-1 over the final five innings – resulting in a 9-5 win.

OC beat Northwestern Oklahoma State University 6-4 in the nightcap.

With the bases loaded in the third inning against Bellevue, Amy Urbanovksy singled to center field to score Christin Dobbs to make it 4-2.

Four batters later and with bases still juiced, Rachel Smith stung a hard grounder that caused a throwing error by the shortstop, sending Urbanovsky and Tracy Washam home to tie it at 4-4.

OC got three more runs in the fifth with the go-head score coming on bloop single from Smith. Then Casey Brady nailed a two-RBI double over the center fielder's head to plate Smith and Urbanovsky to up the lead to 7-4.

The Lady Eagles added two more insurance runs in the sixth on another Urbanovsky single and a sacrifice fly from Sandra Darmstadt.

After allowing four runs in the first two innings, Linzi Farris (11-7) settled in and gave up just one the rest of the way. The junior left-hander, who is 9-1 in her last 10 decisions, struck out eight in the game

Dobbs had a 3-for-4, three-run effort from the leadoff spot. Washam and Urbanovsky each went 2-for-3, with Urbanovksy tallying two RBIs. Brady (1-for-1) was hit by two pitches and drove in another pair.

The second game pitted OC against NWOSU in a non-Sooner Athletic Conference matchup.

The Lady Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the first when Urbanovsky lined a triple under the center fielder's glove to score Dobbs. The lead swelled to 2-0 an inning later when Brady doubled and scored on an error.

Smith made it 5-0 in the third when she laced a bases-loaded double into the left-center field gap that cleared the bases. Brady then singled through the left side to plate Smith and make it 6-0.

NWOSU chipped away with two-run outings in the fourth and fifth to get back within 6-4.

But Sophia Johnson pitched two scoreless relief innings to keep the victory in tact. Caitlin Matthies (10-6) picked up her 10th win of the season after 4 2/3 innings of four-run (three earned) ball.

OC faces No. 3 St. Gregory's tomorrow at 12 p.m. in the first round of the pool-play tournament. Further game times are determined by the result.
